YOUNG MUSICIANS' SUPPORT

YMS is a local charity devoted to raising funds for young musicians in North Devon, supporting young people who are already showing promise as classical musicians, helping them to achieve their ambitions as players and performers.

Many gifted youngsters are unable to reach their potential because of the lack of money, restricting their access to lessons and all the other things which contribute to their musicianship; a good instrument, attending concerts, travelling to take part in county and national gatherings and summer schools, even investing in formal concert dress! Every spring YMS invites local youngsters to apply for financial assistance. The March auditions enable the YMS committee to meet these aspiring musicians and their parents or guardians. An award is only the start of the support YMS can offer. For more information, please look at our application form

YMS raises money by holding events and concerts, sometimes with professional musicians who are most generous with their time, or by providing a platform for the young people we sponsor. We are most grateful to North Devon Theatres, The Plough Arts Centre and other local venues for their support of the ' subsidised ticket' scheme and also for providing a space for our recitals.
